The garden pond and water
gardening equipment guide
Welcome to our guide on
garden ponds water gardening-equipments! There are many makes and models of
pond-equipment,
some of which we will cover on this page. If you are thinking of buying some
new pond equipment for your water garden, then this is the place to start. We
cover equipment for goldfish ponds to Koi ponds, from water gardens to bog gardens.
Also when you buy, you purchase the correct equipment for the size and type
of your water feature. Why do we need pond or water gardening equipment? We
need the right pond equipment or water gardening equipment to provide our fish,
Koi or Goldfish the correct conditions for them to live in. A man made pond
or water feature will not look after itself. A lot of fish keepers have lost
many fish by fitting incorrect or no equipment at all. Also buying the correct
equipment for your water feature such as a fountain or waterfall improves the
overall effect. Building your water feature: When we decide to have a water
feature in our garden the main thing to remember is to plan it from day one.
Take advice from other water gardeners, have a look at other peoples ponds or
water features. Remember never rush into it. You may regret the cost and the
wasted effort of your water feature when it's too late to change it. First of
all decide what type of fish you are going to keep. Koi or goldfish? Then you
know what sort of pond or water garden to build and what type of pond equipment
to buy. Remember there is a difference between a goldfish pond and a koi pond.
Then work out how much money you have to spend! Water gardening is a very good
hobby but you must remember the bigger the feature the higher the costs. Pumps:
If you are going to build a koi pond your pump or pumps you need to have a larger
flow rate than a same size pond for goldfish! this then costs more money. There
are many types of pond pumps from the small fountain pump to the larger type
used for large filter systems. Some fish keepers to have gravity fed set ups
for Koi ponds. Filters:
Again the filter needs to be bigger if you are planing to keep koi! Again a
filter for a koi pond costs more. There are many different types of filter systems.
Take advice on what would best suit your pond! Ultra
Violets or U.V.s This again depends on the size of your pond and what type
of fish you are going to keep! Ultra Violets are a must if you want your water
crystal clear. Liners:
There are many types of liners on the market, try if your pocket allows you
to buy a good quality one, pulling up your pond or water feature after 5 years
is costly and can cause stress to your fish. These are the basic types of pond
and water garden equipment to start with. In time you will learn what else you
may need to help you with your water garden. What if I don't want to keep goldfish
or koi? Thats fine, many people do have water gardens or bog gardens and they
can look very attractive. You can still have a waterfall or fountain but without
the fish. You my decide then not to buy an ultra violet or filter this will
cut down on cost. Fill your water garden with pond plant and let the wildlife
take over. Remember take advice from a person that knows! click here to find
